The Choir
The purpose of the choir is to worship God through music and to lead congregational singing. The singing is usually in four-part music which requires the ability to read music or sol-fa notation and to hold the appropriate line.
A typical Sunday requires the choir to sing two Introits and an Anthem, in addition to leading hymn singing. Of recent years, modern informal music has been incorporated into worship with pleasing results. As well as the organ, we have a grand piano and a Clavinova in the church.
The Choir undertakes two major choral events each year in the form of a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at Christmas and a Maundy Thursday Service at Easter.
The choir meets to practice on Wednesdays from 7.30 – 9.30pm nd at 10.00am n Sundays from September to June.
Our small but musically ambitious choir , under the direction of Mr. Ian Trushell, our Master of Music, is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music. They aim very high, but are a friendly crew, and welcome people seriously interested in providing music of the highest possible standard to lift hearts and minds, and dignify the worship of God in God's house.
Junior Choir
The Junior Choir has rehearsed for many years in
our Church hall on Mondays for the five to twelve year olds from 6.00pm - 7.15pm and on Sundays for the twelve to eighteen year olds (or above) from 12.15 pm - 1.15pm
For over thirty years the Choir has been conducted by Moira Gray.
The Choir is always delighted to perform both in and around the village.
In recent years the group has performed with the Kilbarchan Singers at their Christmas Concert in
Kilbarchan West Church and this is always a highlight for the youngsters.
